BPC-157 in the Literature: What the Studies Actually Say

Origin

BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a sequence identified in human gastric juice. The bulk of published work consists of rodent studies examining tissue repair models — tendon, ligament, gastrointestinal, and vascular.

What the preclinical work shows

Reported effects in animal models include accelerated wound closure, modulation of growth factor expression, and influence on nitric oxide pathways. These findings are consistent across multiple labs but remain limited to non-human systems.

What the literature does not show

There are no large, well-powered human clinical trials. Anecdotal reports are not data. Any extrapolation from rodent tendon-healing models to human physiology is, at this stage, speculative.

How to read a paper on BPC-157

Look for the model system, dosing route, controls, and whether the peptide source and purity are documented. Studies that omit these details are difficult to compare against the broader body of work.
